Children from six schools in Pontefract have recorded themselves singing a Christmas song and message to be played as part of The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract, Light up a Life event on Thursday 10th December at 7pm.
Light up a Life helps families across the UK to dedicate a message in memory of a loved one by lighting a candle, hanging a message on a tree and recording the name of someone special in a book of remembrance or reading it aloud. The services are online this year but are open to anyone and not just people whose loved one was cared for by the hospice.
The children who recorded songs are from Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant & Nursery School, Larks Hill Junior & Infant School, Orchard Head Junior, Infant and Nursery School, Carleton Park Junior & Infant School, The King’s School and Carleton High School and they’re all part of Pontefract Academies Trust.
Rebecca Taylor, Community and Partnership Fundraiser at The Prince of Wales Hopsice said: “It really is so wonderful to have the support of Pontefract Academies Trust and I’m sure the beautiful singing from all the children will make our service incredibly moving and memorable for us all. I also hear that Larks Hill Junior & Infant School children are busy collecting coins and have put star jars in their classrooms. They’re hoping to fill them up with loose change throughout the month and hand them over in time for Christmas which is so generous of them.”
